My pieces are carved out. I use a combination of traditional chisels and electrical machines to get the desired form .In my imagination it starts off as an imagined piece and then I sketch the Idea. I then find the medium that will work for my particular idea and then proceed with the piece.
My inspiration is drawn from a lot of things but primarily it is from the people that I meet and the experiences that I had in the past. Take for example the piece,” bus ride to Mochudi”.
It reminds me about the other time I visited Mochudi, which is a town about 30km out of Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. I was fascinated by the way the standing passengers were holding the upper hand rail inside the bus and it is that movement of the hands that really struck me and inspired me to do that piece.
I go around everywhere with my eyes open so that I can find that unique experience for me and so I can reflect it in my work.
The sculpture making process is a journey that has a lot of possibilities for me. I am always challenging myself and Always criticizing my work so as to keep on improving. For me there is no ultimate perfection.
It is an interesting journey and above all exciting and I am sure you will enjoy some of the works on this site
